The Adult Core Engineering Team advises and leads the teams
of MORT.
Student Core Engineering Team
Team Captains: Ed Venator, Max Thrun
SCET comprises the student leaders of MORT. They deal with
internal team issues as well as planning and team management.
Design Team
New for 2008, the Design Team centralizes all technical decisions about the robot. This group of ten students and six adults has the final say on strategical and technical choices.
AutoDesk Inventor
Sub-group Leader: Kate Coyle
Mentor: George Ackley Sr.
The AutoDesk Inventor team processes design information from the
Design Team to create an entry into the AutoDesk Design Competition.
Drive Train
Sub-group Leader: Alex Tessmer
Mentor: Mike VanGlahn
The Drive Train Team designs and builds the drive assemblies and chassis that
provide the modibility and structural support of the robot.
Electrical
Sub-group Leader: Mike Medeiros
Mentors: Mike Marvin, Steve Majkowski
The Electrical Team designs and contructs the electrical systems, wiring
sensors, and control system for the robot.
3D Studio Max
Sub-group Leader: Devon Paffendorf
The 3DS Max team uses Autodesk animation software to produce a 30-second
clip to enter into FIRST’s Autodesk Visualization competition.
End Effectors
Sub-group Leader: Mike Nawrot
Mentor: Sal DiCola
The End Effectors team designs and build the robot's end-effectors
and manipulators, allowing the robot to interact with game objects.
Business and Public Relations
Sub-group Leader: Akash Rastogi
Mentor:Mrs. Lavin & Mrs. Sacco
The Business/PR team solicits donations, manages purchases, issues press releases,
and plans fundraisers. They manage all financial and information duties.
Website
Sub-group Leader: Chris Smolko
Mentor: Ernie DiCicco
A division of the Business/PR team, the website team maintains MORT's websites
and develops and posts news, media, and content.
Programming
Sub-group Leader: Alex Brockhoff
Mentor: Sam Nath
The Programming Team writes the code to process information from sensors,
perform autonomous tasks, and respond to radio control.
Scouting
Sub-group Leader: Chris Smolko
Mentor: George Ackley Jr.
The Scouting team assesses the strengths and weaknesses of
the other teams at competition.
MidiMORTs
Student Mentors: Jason Acton, Sam Manno

The MidiMORTS participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge competition.
It is a step above FIRST Lego League, and a step below the FIRST Robotics
Competition.
MiniMORTs
Adult Mentor: Bill McGowan
The MiniMORTS are a group of freshman students led by student mentors who
collaborate to make their own robot for the FIRST Lego League mission,
separate from that of MORT. Many of the team members and mentors are also
members of MORT.
