MORT Summer Update- July
MORT's mission did not end with the completion of the school year. Students and mentors have continued to spread the message of FIRST and celebrate our team's continuity over the past 14 years:- We held our annual MORT barbeque at the house of mentor Mike Van Glahn and had a wonderful event.
- New captains for the 2009-2010 MORT season were announced at our BBQ. Seniors Akash Rastogi & Alexander Joss will lead the team along with Junior Harrison Richlin.
- From July 17th to the 19th, students organized, set up, and staffed our booth yet again for the Mount Olive Carnival. We generated a lot of interest as usual and even picked up a possible new mechanical engineering mentor. We also had many important visitors including Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen! Thank you to Nehal, Lopa, and Mr. Bodmer for getting all our supplies including robot, tent, tables, and banners back and forth from the high school and providing rides to the kids.
- Mr. Bodmer continued MORT tradition and held another month of FLL classes for students from all over New Jersey. Nick Brennan, Nehal Mascarenhas, Akash Rastogi, and Matt Massoni taught the 7-12 year olds all about engineering applications and NXT robotics through a challenging course. Thank you to all students who helped with the teaching sessions in the past few weeks.
