MORT News

MORT at the Chesapeake Regional

This past weekend, MORT traveled down to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The end effector team and the pit crew worked diligently in order to build and mount a redesigned roller assembly. Thanks to the modification, MORT was able to seed 21st by the end of the qualification rounds. Chosen by the 8th seeded captain, team 1418 , and thanks to our scouting team we were able to pick team 2016 The Mighty Monkey Wrenches as our alliance partners. The unstoppable alliance rose in the ranks by defeating the 1st, 3rd, and 5th seeded alliance and eventually winning the regional undefeated in the elimination rounds. Outstanding job by our drivers, coaches, alliance partners, scouts, and also everyone who came down to support us. Let's keep the momentum going for the Championship Event in Atlanta, Georgia.

On a related note, Atlanta was recently hit by devastating tornadoes. FIRST has not released any information on the matter of the Championship; however, team members and parents will be informed on the situation as soon as Mr. Mc Gowan and the rest of the FIRST community is. Check back for more updates.

New Jersey Regional

That was, by far, the best our team has performed at Trenton. We started out slow, but by Saturday we were doing amazing on and off the field. A few people worthy of mention:

MORT is in a great place right now, but that doesn't mean we can rest on our laurels. Let's make it even better for Chesapeake!

Read about it in the Star Ledger.

MORT on the Today Show

MORT did in fact get on the Today Show, and Ashley Bernero talked to Chris Cimino on camera. It was an exciting time and well worth the hours of waiting in the six degree city. See the video here.

Siemens Signs On as Sponsor

In 2006, when DPC was bought by Siemens, we lost them as a sponsor. However, our business team recently secured Siemens as a primary sponsor of the team. MORT is thrilled to announce that Siemens has donated $10,000 for the 2008 season.
